FAQ - Cell phone Rental for Japan
Q. What do I need to apply?
A. Credit card information. You may make payments in cash at stores however credit card information is still required.
Q. Will it work at my destination?
A. You may check the coverage from the link below. (Japanese only).
Q. How do I pick up my rental item?
You may pick up your item a day prior to your rental start date. For shipping, we will arrange it to be deliver a day prior to your rental start date (Direct Signature Required).
Q. How do I return my rental item?
A. Return your item by the next day of your rental ending date. For shipping, drop off return package at your nearest FedEx office or FedEx drop box by the next day of your rental ending date.
Q. Can I use email?
A. For iPhone5, you can set to syncronize your email account,such as Google and Yahoo on your phone. As for basic phone, it does not offer internet access so you cannot use email service.
Q. What is tethering?
A. Tethering allows you to share Internet connection with other devices such as laptop and tablets. Tethering also allows you to connect Internet at hotel or outside where it does not provide Internet access.
Q. What can I do with 3GB data?

Q. Can I connect my laptop or tablet that I bought in the U.S. through tethering?
A. Yes. Not only devices from the U.S., but also devices bought in other countries may be used.
Q. Will there be an extra charge if I use Internet or tethering?
A. 3GB data and tethering unit is included in the orders up to 15days long. For orders exceeding 16days long, additional 200MB/day is honored. Overuse charge wil be $25/GB,fraction will be rounded up.
Q. What happens if I want to cancel after I applied?
A. There will be a $15 cancellation fee. No cancellations will be accepted once the item is shipped / picked up.
Q. When will my usage fee charged?
A. Usage fee will be charged approximately one month after the rental item is returned. It will be charged via credit card submitted in advance.
Q. Where can I contact in case of emergency?
A. We will notify contact information when you pick up your device.
Q. I damaged/ lost the phone. What shall I do?
A. You will be charged based on our policy when you return. Please notify Japanese office or J-Plaza (212-532-6786) if you need a substitute device.
